all about apple?
i am so glad i waited.
when everyone was out buying the new 40gb ipods, i took a deep breath and told myself that i didn't need one. after all, the old school 10gb ipod that i bought off peter still works fine. i get about 5 hours of usage out of a full charge, and when i last checked, i only had 7gbs of music on my computer, so i don't really NEED a new ipod right?
all that changed when apple finally announced their new ipod photo. i could see myself getting something like this. so what about the US$599 price tag for a 60gb model. heck, even the 40gb models are US$499, US$100 more than the regular 40gb models.
of course you pay the little extra for the color screen (it's 2" wide, how much would you really be able to see?) and of course there is the av cable that can attach the ipod to a tv to show pictures. to be honest, i can't see myself going to a friend's place and saying "DUDE! you've GOT to see this!" then proceed to plug in my ipod into their tv to show off my photos. well ok, maybe once or twice, but the novelty will wear off quickly.
oh, and US$599 does translate to over S$1,000. that's quite a hunk of change, especially when you consider that i bought a sony home entertainment system (that's right, a multi-region coded DVD/VCD/MP3/CD/JPG/radio player with five cube speakers and a kickass subwoofer) for S$499. come to think of it, the 14" tv i have really doesn't do justice to that nice new system, and did i mention that a new flat screen tv will only set me back by about S$360. hmmm...
are you proud of me for talking myself out of getting the new ipod? don't be, i am already picturing that new tv on the sideboard.
