reverse midas touch part deux
i don't get it.
things seem to be falling apart in the weirdest way. it's almost like i've been hexed.
apart from the home entertainment system short circuiting and the bike accident that i wrote about in my last post, the following have happened since then:
1) powerbook went on the fritz for the third time since i bought it (a scant 15 months ago i might add). ANOTHER logic board problem, in which the logic board was yet again replaced (also the third time). after which i get an email from apple saying "Sorry to inform you that we faced persistent failure during our extended testing after replacing the airport extreme and main logic board. thus, we need more time to examine your system further as the fault is new to us."
2) motorbike is finally back from the shop. only problems are that the fuel sensor is fried, the clutch is still slipping and sloppy replacement of the wiring on my led brake light means i have limited space in my top box to stow away gear. another five hours spent waiting at the garage (including the one hour lunch break when everyone just dropped everything and buggered off). oh, did i mention i forgot to bring a book to read?
3) the abovementioned powerbook was returned a week after i sent it in, only to discover that there was something wrong with the ram slot and it wasn't reading one of the chips. another long assed haul back to apple for yet more troubleshooting.
4) finally all is fixed, i come home, pop open the computer, and find out that the apple basestation decided that it too wanted to lay down and die. replaced by an smc wireless router at a third of the price.
5) watched batman begins, only to have to evacuate the cinema 20 minutes into the movie because of a fire.
6) came home to find the fridge conking out, water (from the melted ice) every-fucking-where. of course this happens right after i buy perishable groceries.
may not seem that bad, but considering numbers 3 to 6 happened in less than 18 hours, i'd classify it as a bitch of a day.
think it's time this dark cloud takes off and follows someone else.
