IWOOT II: drunken checkers

gizmodo has never stopped being my partner in the search for whacky thingamajigs i want but don't need. latest case in point is the beautiful set of shot class checkers that i can imagine myself getting sloshed with.

well if i still got drunk that is.

damn detour

it was a good but short ride after getting off the late shift tonight with ah seng. we buzzed on down to jurong hill (finally, i got to lead the way to a place he'd never been to before) and after about 15 minutes chilling, we decided to head back. it's kinda sad that these riding trips are fewer and further between than before, but it's something that i've come to terms with, what with his being married with a lil' un on the way.

but the main gripe (don't i always seem to have one?) of the night, is the fact that by obeying traffic rules (ie. not riding on pavements etc) the 250 meter ride from the office to the gas station turns into a long assed haul back because of one way streets, no right turns etc...

a 4.1 km ride back to be precise.

sheesh.

it isn't often one wakes up bleary eyed to read this on the news.

sydney stories #1

so you're walking down the aisles of the asian supermarket in sydney's chinatown and you're looking for some singaporean food. where do you look?

well under the sign that says 'caned food' of course.

heh

note to self #1

one should not excessively partake in free beer at the office on a friday night, especially when one still has work to do and the photography segment of the basic reporting course to prepare for.

consequences could be as severe as heading back to the office on a precious weekend off to make up for lost time.

bah.

damn good excuses

really. it's been a crazy few days.

three hours of sleep after landing at 1:30am two saturday mornings ago, i donned the suit and tie, and headed over to pasir ris in the bridal car to pick up seng and the rest of the boys. it was his big day and it was a long but rewarding one for all of us.

ladies and gentlemen, the newly married couple maye-e and terence

after a tuesday rushing around to get things settled, i head over to the airport for a seven hour flight to sydney where i would spend the next five days covering a certain murder trial involving singaporeans. what was supposed to be a somewhat cush job ended up, in the words of the abovementioned terence, as being the "same shit, different toilet bowl". lots of waiting in the cold and rain, and lots of sympathy with the families who lost their sons. in fact, it wasn't until saturday that i managed to get enough breathing time to head to the sydney fish market for lunch, and sydney harbour to walk around the opera house, the rocks and circular quay areas.

harbour bridge at sunset

so now i'm back, with the possibility of heading back out to sydney again for the verdict, but while i'm home, it's pretty cool to see that one of the comic characters mart came up with, both based and named after me, is part of a onedotzero.com.sg bus stop design project.

beeker the gadget freak

maybe more pictures will follow of each of the above, but maybe not, depending on how lazy i am. what can i say, i'm pretty happy with the way most of my life is going.
